GRAPHIC DESIGN FAQs

Do I own the copyright to the book cover design?
Look under the Publishing FAQ section to learn more about graphics copyright.
Can I use my own cover art?
You can submit your cover art for review. The design must warrant that the provided art is either owned by you or that it does not infringe on any copyright.
Can I use my own graphic designer or illustration?
If publishing under our imprint, no. All books published under our imprint must be produced by our internal design team. This is non-negotiable.

If self-publishing, yes, you can use your own designer. We just need to know your book trim size for other production specifications.

When will graphic design begin for my book cover?
Generally, we don’t start working on the cover and visual branding until after the first round of editing is completed.

Our process is setup this way because we need to have clarity on the book title and subtitle before we proceed with conceptual development for the cover. After reviewing the first edit, and then speaking with you about how to convey your message, we will finalize a subtitle (if needed)–then we proceed with the cover.

What is a round of revision?
Once a design draft is presented, you will have a week to provide your feedback. Once all of your comments, ideas and questions are consolidated and we provide a new version, that’s the end of that round of revision.
What is the turnaround time for revisions?
Our design team will make their best attempt to get revisions completed as soon as possible, however due to restrained time schedules, please allow 2-3 business days for minor revisions and 5-7 business days for major revisions.
How many revisions do I get for the cover or other graphics?
Up to three rounds of revisions are included for all graphic designs at no extra charge. There is a $55 fee for each additional revision thereafter.
What’s the turnaround time for illustrations?
The initial sketch for character development generally takes 7-10 business days. Upon review, revisions take 3-5 business days, and coloring takes an additional 7-10 business days–in total, the process is approximately 3 weeks.

NOTE: If content will be included in an illustration, the you’ll need to provide in separate Microsoft Word file with the text.
